my iphone has a plug and a arrow pointing to a itunes symbol?

there was a update so i clicked it and it said i needed to restore it before i could update it sooo i clicked restore. then a message said my plug malfunctioned. so i put a new one it. and every time i push restore it loads (like its working) and then it said there was a problem. so i tryed and charge it for the night and the WHOLE night there was a plug and a arrow pointing ti the itunes symbol. i have no idea what to do since i cant restore it. and occasionaly it will turn off and it goes the the apple logo and then the arrow pops upp again =(
